We've got something new to share, and we're pretty excited about it. Our Oahu range is the first Togs collection made in a brand-new fabric, and it's the toughest one we've ever worked with.

If you swim laps, do aqua aerobics or head to hydrotherapy each week, this one's for you.

What's Oahu made of?

Oahu is 72% polyester and 28% High Clo spandex. That might just look like numbers on a care label, but both halves of that blend are doing an important job.

  • Polyester stands up to chlorine far better than the nylon used in most everyday swimwear. It holds dye beautifully too, so prints stay bright instead of fading after a few months in the pool.
  • High Clo spandex is a stretch fibre made especially to cope with chlorine. Regular spandex is what gives swimwear its stretch and hold, but chlorine slowly breaks it down, which is why an old favourite starts to go baggy and see-through. High Clo is built to resist that, so the stretch keeps springing back.

The first thing you'll notice when you pick up an Oahu piece is how it feels. It's more substantial and robust than the fabric we use for our other prints, with a firmer, more supportive hand. That generous 28% stretch content is a big part of it: Oahu holds you in and holds its shape.

Why chlorine is so hard on swimwear

Pool water is great for keeping things clean, but it's tough on fabric. Over time, chlorine:

  • Fades colour, so bright prints turn dull and patchy.
  • Weakens stretch fibres, so the suit loses its hug and starts to sag.
  • Thins the fabric, making it more likely to pill or go sheer, especially where you sit on the pool edge.

If you swim often, a standard swimsuit can feel tired within a single season. Oahu is designed for exactly that kind of regular pool use.

The Oahu range

Oahu wears a blue and white patchwork print, with tile and tie-dye patterns that look just as good at the local pool as they do on holiday. It comes in the styles you already love, with the support Togs is known for: power-mesh tummy control, wire-free bust support and adjustable straps on most pieces.

Make it last even longer

Chlorine resistant doesn't mean chlorine proof, and a little care goes a long way. A few easy habits:

  1. Rinse straight after your swim in cool, fresh water, before chlorine has time to sit in the fabric.
  2. Hand wash in cool water with a gentle soap. Skip the washing machine and dryer.
  3. Don't wring it out. Gently press out the water, or roll it in a towel.
  4. Dry flat in the shade. Strong sun and heat are hard on stretch fibres too.
  5. Mind the pool edge. Rough concrete causes pilling, so pop a towel down before you sit.
  6. Rotate your suits if you swim most days, so each one gets a full day to recover.
